General Information This course is an introduction to the physiology and microanatomy of the organ systems, and as such its major objectives are to give graduate and professional students an appreciation of both the normal functioning and the structure of human organs, excluding the nervous system. The quizzes and certain supplementary materials may be accessed using the Medical Physiology Web Site. In addition, this site provides links to other relevant sites including the Histology Images Project as well as Conet. All students are encouraged to make use of these materials using either their home computers or computers in the HSC Library. 1.Group Assignments: Here you can find supplemental Histology material such as problem sets. 2. Course Schedule and Syllabus (Including Lecture Objectives): the materials contained within this document can be accessed through this site. 3. Old Exams & Exam Keys copies of the 1995-1999 Organ Systems midterm and final exams and 2000-2002 Medical Physiology can be found and used as an aid to understanding test question formats and to get an overall idea of content. 4. Problem Sets & Answers: Each lecturer has prepared a problem set that will address the main points covered in their lectures. These problem sets will vary, depending on the material, from actual numerical calculations to problem-based multiple choice questions, and will be clinically-based whenever possible. These problem sets will be placed on the Web site toward the middle of each lecture series, and will be followed one week later with the answers. Although optional, the purpose of these problem sets is to help students to evaluate their progress with the lecture material. An inability to complete these problem sets is a likely predictor of poor exam performance, and indicates that more preparation is needed. 5. Announcements: Information that pertains to the class as a whole such as exam performance data, deadlines, and the like will be listed here. Information that is concerned with last minute changes (such as room assignments) will be disseminated through email. 6. Links: This portion of the course web site will take students to other relevant internet sites such as the Histology Images Project and other educational sites of interest. 7. Extra Help: Visit the pages for Faculty or TA help. |
